Hey! Did you know, there are two fastest ways to open and view multiple Excel files at once. Yes… You can use the “view side-by-side” feature in Excel or “Snap Assist” in Windows.
These two features can help you view multiple workbooks at the same time. You can also view two Excel files at once in one window and use sync scrolling between workbook.
Do you need this feature? Let’s see what we will get.
Table of Contents:
Open & View Multiple Excel Files with View Side-by-Side Feature
To view multiple Excel files at once, please follow these steps:
- Open two or more of your Workbooks. If you don’t know how to open the existing Workbook, please double-click your Excel file stored on the hard disk.
- In the first Excel file, click the View tab, and then click Arrange All.
- In the Arrange Window, select vertical view.
- Click Ok to view multiple Excel files at once. This is the result:
By default, Arrange All doesn’t enable the Synchronous Scrolling feature.
If you want to view multiple workbooks side by side and connect scrolling between workbooks, please enable “View Side-by-Side” and “Synchronous Scrolling” features on the View tab as below:
Note: The Synchronous Scrolling feature can only connect scrolling two Excel files. So, if you open more than two workbooks, Excel will ask you to select the second Workbook pair.
Use Windows Bulit-in “Snap Assist” Feature
If you’re using Excel on Windows, then you can use the Snap Assist feature to view two workbooks at the same time.
Firstly, click and hold on the Header of the currently open Excel software.
Secondly, drag it to the left or right side of the screen until forming a split-screen shadow. Then, release left click and see the following image:
Windows will give you the option to open what software on the blank side. Please click the second Excel file to open it on the left side.
You will see the same result with the “Arrange All – Vertical” feature in Excel without the synchronous scrolling above.
Note: With Windows built-in Snap Assist feature, you can also open other software along with Microsoft Excel. You just need to select the software to open it on the blank side.
It’s easy, right?
